Werk24 Studio Terms
Version 2026-10-28, in effect from 28 October 2026.
W24 Service GmbH, Therese-Studer-Straße 14, 80797 München, Germany, registered at the Amtsgericht München under HRB 250705, VAT ID DE325787809 (“Werk24”, “we”, “us”).
1. What these Terms cover
1.1 These Terms govern the use of Werk24 Studio by a business: its trial and its Starter, Professional and Business plans, and the earlier Studio plans of section 14 for organizations that still have them. The Werk24 API and the API console have their own terms.
1.2 They do not govern a customer with a signed contract with Werk24, such as an Enterprise plan. The contract governs, and these Terms apply only where it refers to them. The free demo has its own demo terms.
1.3 Werk24 Studio is offered to businesses only (entrepreneurs within the meaning of section 14 of the German Civil Code, “BGB”), not to consumers. The person who accepts these Terms confirms that they act for a business and may bind it.
1.4 The data processing agreement and the support and service terms form part of these Terms. Terms of your own do not apply, even if you refer to them and we do not object.
2. How the agreement is made
2.1 The agreement is made when you create a Studio account and accept these Terms. The trial needs no card and no payment. A plan starts when its first fee is authorised.
2.2 We may refuse an account or a plan where we have good reason, for example when a payment fails, fraud is likely, or export control or sanctions law stands in the way. Nothing is charged for a refused plan.
2.3 Plans are sold through Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), our online reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, issues the invoice and e-mails it to you, and handles VAT, refunds and chargebacks under its own buyer terms, which it shows at checkout. Your invoices and card statement therefore show Paddle, not Werk24. The service itself is ours, and these Terms govern it.
3. The service
3.1 Werk24 Studio reads technical drawings and turns what it finds into balloon drawings and inspection reports, compares versions of a drawing, and lets you work on both with your customers and suppliers. The Studio shows the limits that apply (file formats, file size, pages per document, paper size) where you upload a file. The limits may change as the service develops.
3.2 Results made with AI. Check them. Werk24 reads drawings automatically, with artificial intelligence (machine learning models). The Studio marks every result made this way. A result can be incomplete or wrong, and a drawing can be refused when it cannot be read reliably. Check results before you rely on them, in particular before you quote, make, inspect, accept or reject a part. Accuracy and speed figures we publish are typical values, not promises.
3.3 We develop Werk24 Studio continuously and may change its features and limits, as long as what you pay for does not get materially worse. If a change takes away something material from a plan you pay for, we tell you at least 30 days ahead, and you may end that plan when the change takes effect.
3.4 Integration work, custom configuration, training and consulting are not included unless agreed separately.
4. Plans, pages and prices
4.1 Plans. A Studio organization is on its trial (4.4) or on one of these plans, each by the billing month:
| Plan | Fee | Pages included | Each extra page | Default cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | EUR 149 | 40 | EUR 4.50 | EUR 75 |
| Professional | EUR 490 | 200 | EUR 2.95 | EUR 245 |
| Business | EUR 1,490 | 800 | EUR 2.25 | EUR 745 |
- Every plan includes every feature of the Studio and any number of users. Users are your own employees and contractors. Other companies take part in your requests and comparisons as guests and need no plan of yours.
- The fee is charged monthly in advance. Included pages are for the billing month and do not carry over.
- Enterprise, from EUR 3,900 a month with 2,500 pages, is agreed in a signed contract (1.2).
4.2 Pages.
- A sheet up to A3 (297 × 420 mm) counts as one page. A larger sheet counts one page for each started 137,000 mm² of its area: A2 counts 2, A1 counts 4 and A0 counts 8, and ANSI C, D and E likewise. A PDF page counts by its page size. An image counts by its size at its stated resolution or, without a usable one, one page for each started 19 megapixels.
- An inspection counts the pages of the drawing read. A comparison counts the pages of both versions compared, and each new version uploaded into it counts again, together with the version it is compared with.
- Nothing counts for a file your organization read in the last 90 days, for a read that fails on our side, or for a rerun or a check of a comparison already made.
- Work in a request or comparison counts against the pages of the organization that owns it, including what a partner uploads into it. A partner answering your request does so without using pages of its own.
- The Studio shows what a file counts before it is read. The count made when the file is read is the one that applies.
4.3 Extra pages and the cap. On a plan, the Studio keeps reading beyond the included pages up to a cap for extra pages that the organization sets in the Studio, by default the amount in the table. Each page beyond the included ones costs the plan’s price per page.
- A cap of EUR 0 makes a fixed invoice: the Studio then stops at the included pages.
- At the cap, your own uploads stop until the next billing month or until you raise the cap. Work a partner starts in your request or comparison continues for up to a further 10 percent of your included pages; those pages are not charged.
- Extra pages are charged in arrears on the plan’s subscription once the billing month has ended. For a plan that ends with its billing month, they are charged shortly before the end, and pages read after that charge are not charged.
- A billing month is never charged more than the fee and the cap. You can change the cap at any time, but not to less than the extra pages of the current billing month already cost.
- We e-mail the owners of the organization when it reaches 80 and 100 percent of its included pages and of its cap. They can turn these e-mails off in the Studio.
4.4 The trial. A new Studio organization starts on a trial: 30 pages, without a card and without a fee. A trial has no extra pages.
- A trial started by signing up can use its pages for 15 days. After that, or once the pages are used, uploads stop, viewing and downloading stay available, and a plan can be chosen until 30 days after the trial started. If none is chosen by then, the trial ends (10.2).
- A trial that starts with an invitation from an organization on a paid plan has no time limit for its pages, and work inside the inviting organization’s requests never uses them. If no plan is chosen within 15 days after the pages are used, the trial ends (10.2).
- We may refuse a further trial to an e-mail address that already had one. Addresses are compared in lower case and without any “+” part before the @.
4.5 Prices are net. Paddle adds VAT where it is owed.
5. Payment and price changes
5.1 Metering. Pages count as 4.2 says. Our records decide, unless they are plainly wrong. Tell us within 60 days of a charge if you dispute it.
5.2 Failed payments. If a payment fails, we or Paddle tell you and try again. Until it is paid, we may stop uploads; viewing and downloading stay available. If it is still outstanding 30 days after our notice, we may end the agreement. Statutory default interest applies.
5.3 Plan changes. You can move between Starter, Professional and Business at any time. Paddle charges or credits the difference in fee for the rest of the billing month at once. The new plan’s included pages and price per page apply from the move, and the pages already read in the billing month count towards them.
5.4 Price changes. We may change prices for the future by telling you in text form at least 30 days ahead. If you do not accept a change, you may end the affected plan before it takes effect.
6. What you are responsible for
6.1 You keep your passwords, access codes and invitation links confidential, make sure only your people use them, and tell us at once if you suspect misuse. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
6.2 You upload only drawings and data you have the right to give us for this purpose, and you comply with the law that applies to your use, including export control and sanctions law.
6.3 You do not:
- interfere with the security of Werk24, or get around its limits, metering or access controls;
- reverse engineer, decompile or copy the service;
- upload harmful code, or load the service beyond its documented limits;
- scrape or crawl the service, or use it for unlawful purposes;
- use the service or its results to build, train or evaluate a service or model that reads technical drawings.
6.4 You may use the results in your own business and pass them on to your customers and suppliers, including inside your own products.
6.5 If you break 6.1 to 6.3 in a way that puts the service or others at risk, we may suspend the affected access at once and tell you why.
7. Your data
7.1 Your drawings, the results and your reports are yours. Werk24 processes them automatically, only to provide Werk24 Studio to you: to read them, to store them as the data processing agreement says, and to show them to you and to the people you invite or share them with. Nobody else sees them. Werk24 staff do not look at them, unless you ask us to in a support case, or where the law requires it. Each organization’s files are encrypted with a key of its own.
7.2 Where we process personal data on your behalf, the data processing agreement applies. It forms part of these Terms.
7.3 What we keep to improve our reader. We never keep a whole page or a whole drawing for this, and no page or drawing is ever used to train or test our models. What we keep is limited to two kinds of small parts:
- image crops of single features, such as one geometric tolerance frame or one surface symbol, typically a few hundred pixels across and never a whole view, title block or page;
- short text strings the reader could not interpret, up to 60 characters each, never an e-mail address.
We use these parts only to develop and test Werk24’s reading, never to identify anyone, and we pass them to no one outside Werk24 and the providers that run the service for us (listed under subprocessors). You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use them for these purposes for as long as we need them. If such a part contains personal data despite these limits, we delete it when we find it.
7.4 We may use data about how the service is used (counts, timings and errors, not the content of your drawings) to run, secure and improve it, and publish statistics that identify no customer.
7.5 We name you as a customer, for example with your company name or logo, only with your prior consent in text form.
8. Confidentiality
This section is a mutual non-disclosure agreement between you and us. It applies without a separate NDA. Where you and we sign a separate NDA, the stricter of the two applies.
8.1 Confidential information is all information one of us (the discloser) makes available to the other (the recipient) in connection with this agreement, whether or not it is marked as confidential: in particular drawings, models, results, reports, prices, quantities, supplier and customer relationships, know-how and business plans. Your drawings, the results and your reports are always your confidential information. The software, models and documentation of Werk24 Studio are ours.
8.2 What the recipient does. The recipient:
- keeps confidential information secret, and protects it with at least the care it uses for its own, and never less than reasonable care;
- uses it only for this agreement;
- discloses it only to its employees, contractors, subprocessors and professional advisers who need it for this agreement and are bound to confidentiality at least as strict as this section, and is responsible for them;
- does not reverse engineer, analyse or copy it beyond what this agreement needs.
8.3 Exceptions. This section does not apply to information that:
- is or becomes public without a breach of this section;
- the recipient already lawfully had without a duty of confidentiality;
- the recipient lawfully receives from a third party without a duty of confidentiality;
- the recipient develops independently.
8.4 Disclosure required by law. Where an authority or court requires disclosure, the recipient discloses only what is required. Where the law allows it, the recipient tells the discloser first, so that it can seek protection.
8.5 At the end. When the agreement ends, the recipient deletes or returns the discloser’s confidential information on request. Your data is deleted as 10.4 and the data processing agreement say. This does not apply to copies the law requires the recipient to keep, or to copies in routine backups until they expire; these stay confidential.
8.6 Duration. This section applies during the agreement and for five years after it ends; for trade secrets, for as long as they remain trade secrets.
8.7 What we keep under 7.3 is used only as 7.3 says, and stays confidential under this section.
9. Availability, support and defects
9.1 We work to keep Werk24 Studio available at all times but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Planned maintenance and incidents are posted on the status page.
9.2 The support and service terms say how to reach us and how quickly we answer.
9.3 Tell us about a defect in text form without undue delay, describing it so we can reproduce it. We remedy defects within a reasonable time, at our choice by fixing them or by providing a workaround or a new version. If we cannot, you may end the affected plan. Strict liability for defects that already existed when the agreement was made (section 536a paragraph 1, first alternative, BGB) is excluded.
10. Term and ending
10.1 The agreement runs until it is ended. The owner of an organization can close it at any time in the Studio, under Settings. Closing ends any plan as 10.2 says, uploads stop at once, and the organization’s data is deleted as 10.4 says. We may close an account with 30 days’ notice. The plan terms below take precedence.
10.2 Plans run month to month. You can cancel at any time; the plan then ends at the end of the billing month and is not renewed. We may end a plan with 30 days’ notice. When a plan ends and no other follows, uploads stop and you can still view and download everything for 30 days. When those 30 days pass, or a trial ends under 4.4, without a plan chosen, the agreement ends.
10.3 Either of us may end the agreement for good cause without notice. A notice of termination must be in text form, for example an e-mail.
10.4 When the agreement ends, your access ends. Download your results and reports before then. What happens to your data afterwards is set out in the data processing agreement.
11. Liability
11.1 We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act, and where we gave a guarantee.
11.2 For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential obligation (one whose fulfilment makes the agreement possible in the first place and on which you may rely), and then only for the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of agreement. On a plan, our liability under this clause is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event.
11.3 On the trial, and on a free plan of section 14, we are liable only under 11.1.
11.4 Except under 11.1, we are not liable for loss caused by information or instructions you gave us, or by results you relied on without checking them as 3.2 asks.
11.5 These limits apply to our staff and agents too.
12. Changes to these Terms
12.1 We may change these Terms for the future. We tell you in text form at least 30 days before a change takes effect, say what changes, and point out your right to object.
12.2 If you object before the change takes effect, the current Terms continue to apply to you, and either of us may end the affected plan from the day the change would have taken effect. If you do not object and keep using Werk24 Studio after that day, the changed Terms apply.
13. General
13.1 German law applies, without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
13.2 The courts of Munich, Germany, have exclusive jurisdiction, where the law allows such an agreement.
13.3 Text form (section 126b BGB), such as e-mail, is enough for notices under these Terms. We send notices to the e-mail address of your account.
13.4 Where the checkout or an order confirmation says something different about a plan, it prevails over these Terms. The data processing agreement prevails over these Terms on data protection.
13.5 You may transfer the agreement to someone else only with our consent. We may transfer it to a successor to our business.
13.6 If a provision is invalid, the rest stays in force, and the invalid provision is replaced by the valid one that comes closest to its purpose.
14. Organizations that started before these Terms
14.1 Before these Terms, Werk24 Studio was used under the general Werk24 Terms of Service, which keep governing the Werk24 API and the API console. Studio accounts created from 28 October 2026 have these Terms from the start. For Studio accounts created earlier, the general Terms of Service continue until these Terms take their place, 30 days after we tell you by e-mail, as section 12 describes.
14.2 Earlier plans. Before the plans of 4.1, the Studio offered the free Connect plan (5 reports a calendar month, a report being one drawing read whatever its number of pages), the Workshop and Pro plans (a monthly fee with 100 and 400 drawing pages a billing month, and 2 and 50 seats), and, before them, the Team and Scale plans. An OEM workspace that requested reports from its suppliers used the Studio free of charge.
- Until 30 November 2026, an organization created before these Terms applied to it (14.1) has Connect’s 5 reports a calendar month instead of the trial, and an OEM workspace among them uses the Studio free of charge. From 1 December 2026 each is on the trial of 4.4, which starts that day. A new organization is on the trial of 4.4 from its signup.
- An organization with a Workshop, Pro, Team or Scale subscription keeps it on the terms it took it on until the subscription ends or it moves to a plan of 4.1.
